You can choose from fifteen-or-so lowland and mountainside MTB trails around Puy de Dôme. These clearly waymarked routes are your passport to discovering the unspoilt countryside all around you!
La Grotte de Volvic est un site proposant plusieurs visites immersives. Tout au long de l’année, plongez au cœur de l’Histoire et des légendes grâce à 3 univers passionnants. Un lieu à découvrir ou à redécouvrir en famille ! La Grotte de la Pierre de Volvic, est avant tout un lieu chargé d’histoires.
Conçue à la suite d’une coulée de lave du Volcan de la Nugère il y a 12 000 ans, elle fut exploitée par l’Homme pour sa Pierre de Volvic dès le 13 -ème siècle. C’est grâce aux artisans et à Jean Legay - Chevalier, important exploitant de pierres dans les années 1900, que la Pierre de Volvic fut connue dans le monde entier.
A la fois documentaire et récit de sa vie et celle de ses carriers, la visite historique d’1h15 vous plongera dans leur histoire passionnante et émouvante à travers 5 espaces consécutifs placés en enfilade sous la voûte de lave.
La visite se fait sous forme de Scénovision® : projection de vidéos, objets animés, jeux de lumières et narration sonore.
En plus de la visite Historique, la Grotte de la Pierre de Volvic propose dès le 14 février 2024 une expérience immersive hors du commun pour vivre un moment unique en famille.
La Grotte des Lumières permet de découvrir un spectacle narratif et émouvant dans un univers enchanté connectant la grotte aux éléments naturels. Dans une ambiance aquatique et végétale, vous serez transportés dans un nouvel univers rempli de magie et de légendes. Petits & grands vont suivre les aventures d’une loutre nommée Volvis ayant en tête de redonner vie à la Grotte
Cette nouvelle visite de 45 minutes environ se fait en toute autonomie à l’intérieur de la Grotte de la Pierre de Volvic avec mapping sur les parois, effets lumineux et sonores…
De fin novembre à début janvier 2025, la Grotte de la Pierre de Volvic revêtira ses habits de fêtes pour proposer aux visiteurs de découvrir la Grotte du Père Noël.
Etape après étape à l’intérieur même de l’Atelier du Père Noël, petits et grands suivront les aventures extraordinaires de jouets attachants et de lutins gaffeurs grâce à une immersion totale créée par des décors stupéfiants ainsi que des effets visuels et sonores.

Taking on the volcano trails
Are you looking for more of a challenge in the saddle? Not daunted by the prospect of taking on the steep slopes of the Chaîne des Puys, a UNESCO World Heritage site? Our MTB circuits around Puy de Dôme are highly prized by bikers who like to push themselves to the limit, taking on the might of the volcanoes!
And if you’ve always wanted to tackle a legendary long-distance MTB route, the Grande Traversée du Massif Central (GTMC) is for you! Stages 14, 15 and 16 run through Terra Volcana, offering incredible panoramas of this UNESCO World Heritage region!
From Volvic, you can strike out to conquer the Puy de la Nugère, the volcano that gives us the famous Volvic stone (trachyandesite). En route, you ride through the Volvic Quarries and Caves Nature Reserve, home to hundreds of species of bats.
It’s a tremendous opportunity to combine a biking challenge with recharging your batteries in unique surroundings.
