Of the 80 volcanoes listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites, only Puy de Dôme is accessible to the general public, thanks to the Panoramique des Dômes electric rack-and-pinion train, which takes you to an altitude of 1,465 metres in 15 minutes, offering a remarkable view of this unique geological site.
