RLV and Limagne plain

Terra Volcana: an area between volcanoes and Limagne

The Terra Volcana region is located in the north of the Puy-de-Dôme department, in the heart of the Auvergne region. It is a federation of two intercommunal bodies: the Riom Limagne et Volcans(RLV) Urban Community and the Plaine Limagne Community of Municipalities.

Together, they are developing the region’s natural, cultural and tourist heritage, including its volcanoes, thermal waters, agricultural landscapes and picturesque villages.

 Riom Limagne et Volcans (RLV)

The Riom Limagne et Volcans Agglomeration Community was created in 2017, bringing together 31 communes around Riom, Volvic, Châtel-Guyon, Mozac and Ennezat. With over 67,000 inhabitants, it is one of the largest conurbations in the Puy-de-Dôme. Its head office is in Riom, and its remit covers town planning, economic development, mobility, water and sewerage, as well as culture and sports facilities.

Useful services for residents

  • Public transport: the RLV Mobilités network offers regular routes, a service on demand and school routes.
  • Daily life: practical information, news and procedures available on the official website
  • Key projects: renovation of the Béatrice Hess aquatic centre, development of business parks, promotion of sustainable mobility.

 Limagne Plain

The Plaine Limagne Community of Municipalities comprises 25 municipalities to the north-east of Riom, around Aigueperse. The area combines a rural lifestyle with proximity to major urban centres. Its remit covers housing, early childhood, social action, culture, the local economy and the environment.
