Discover our GR®441 Guide
Going on an adventure is great, but preparing your itinerary is even better! But as you know, it’s difficult to find all the practical information about a GR® before you’ve actually done it:
- Where to stay?
- Are there water points along the route? Are the fountains dry at this time of year?
- Will there be a mini-market or bakery along the route to stock up?
- Can I find a luggage delivery company?

Contents of the guide
Terra Volcana has put together a ready-to-go guide for you, so you can stay calm throughout your trip and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Chaîne des Puys. Inside you’ll find answers to basic questions such as “how to get to Volvic”, as well as practical information such as “where to park your car for 6 days” without getting a fine, or worse, having it impounded!
The guide also includes addresses of gîtes where you can sleep in warmth, whether you’re on your own, with a partner or in a group.
Do you prefer to sleep under the stars and bivouac , but aren’t sure where to pitch your tent? At the top of the puys? On private land? You’ll find all the details in the special GR®441 hiker’s guide. For your information, bivouacking is not permitted either at the top or on the slopes of the puys.
Full of practical advice
Knowing where to sleep is all well and good, but how do you get supplies during the 6 stages of the itinerary? Where are the fountains? Are they drinkable? Is it possible to walk with your dog in the Chaîne des Puys, particularly during the summer pastures? The answer is in the guide!
You’ll also find plenty of practical advice on how to pack your hiking bag, as well as the addresses of taxi companies offering luggage transport, and what to do in the event of thunderstorms…
