Before setting off to tackle the sleeping giant, make a stop at the Maison de Site. There, next to the departure station, you’ll find “L’Espace Voyage Au sommet des Volcans”, where you can find out all about the history of the puy de Dôme and its cog railway. What’s more, your children will also be able to discover the special features of the site in the “Coin des Petits Dômes”, an interactive area that will tell them all about the natural history of the Chaîne des Puys. Then it’s off up the mountain. A word of advice: keep your eyes peeled!

Once you’ve reached the summit of Auvergne’s most famous volcano, you’ll be in for a real treat, both naturally and historically.
