Born 30,000 years ago, the Lemptégy volcano is a real geological and historical discovery! At the end of the Second World War, the site was chosen for the extraction of its volcanic slag in order to rebuild towns destroyed by the war. Thanks to this industrial activity and the involvement of the scientific community, the internal structure of the Lemptégy volcano has been revealed to the general public.

Accompanied by a guide, take an inside look at the Lemptégy volcano and its geological curiosities… You can even pick up some real volcanic rock.
Along the way, you’ll enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the Chaîne des Puys and the 80 or so volcanoes in the middle of which this natural site is situated. At the end of the route, you can even discover the old industrial mining machines: scalpers, screens, trommels and other crushers.
