Find a mountain biking or cycling route in the Puy-de-Dôme and discover Terra Volcana from a sporting and natural perspective. This volcanic region is emblematic of the Auvergne and offers a varied network of signposted routes, suitable for both beginners and more experienced mountain bikers.

The routes pass through unique landscapes: forest tracks, views of the Auvergne volcanoes, trails at the foot of the volcanoes and passages through the heart of the green plains.

The mountain bike routes allow you to admire emblematic sites such as the Puy de Dôme and the Volvic volcanoes, while enjoying unspoilt scenery.

Family or sports mountain biking tours

Terra Volcana also offers themed loops and signposted mountain bike trails, so you can vary the difficulty and length of the ride to suit your tastes. Some routes offer gentle gradients for family outings, while others are designed for thrill-seekers with more technical sections and spectacular views of the Chaîne des Puys. The trails alternate between rolling tracks, undergrowth paths and passages through volcanic landscapes, offering an immersive and varied experience. Numerous services are available on site, including rest areas, water points and bike washing facilities, making it easy to organise a successful mountain bike outing in the Puy-de-Dôme.

GTMC and Via Allier

In addition to local trails, Terra Volcana is criss-crossed by two major mountain bike routes: the Grande Traversée du Massif Central (GTMC) and the Via Allier.

The GTMC, a signposted mountain bike route covering more than 1,000 km, crosses the Massif Central and passes through the volcanic landscapes of the Puy-de-Dôme, particularly around Volvic and the Chaîne des Puys. This route offers a unique experience for mountain bikers, combining forest paths, rolling tracks and exceptional panoramas.

The Via Allier is a cycle route (V70) running alongside the river Allier. It offers a gentle itinerary, ideal for cycling and gravel enthusiasts, through lush green valleys and picturesque villages.

These two signposted cycle routes offer an active way to discover Terra Volcana, while taking full advantage of the area’s rich natural and heritage resources.
